Lands Ministry welcomes new minister, Hon. Oliver Salopuka
Honiara, Solomon Islands|01 June 2026| – The Ministry of Lands, Housing and Survey (MLHS) officially welcomed its recently appointed Minister, Hon. Oliver Salopuka, during a ceremony held on Wednesday, 27th May.
The event was attended by the Permanent Secretary, Deputy Secretaries, Heads of Departments, and ministry staff.
In his inaugural address, Minister Salopuka expressed gratitude for the warm reception and acknowledged the significant responsibilities entrusted to the ministry by the people of Solomon Islands.
He emphasised that the ministry is entering a new chapter under the leadership of Prime Minister Hon. Matthew Wale and the newly formed Government for Reform, Empowerment, Accountability & Transformation [GREAT] Coalition.
“As your Minister, my priority is to ensure that the Ministry of Lands actively drives the GREAT Coalition’s platform, which is firmly centred on aggressive legislative reforms, social development, and fiscal discipline,” he stated.
He emphasised that responsible land management would lay the foundation for structural reforms, long-term employment opportunities for youth, and their inclusion in national decision-making.
“Change is here, and it is a privilege to lead this ministry during such a transformative time,” Minister Salopuka remarked, urging staff to boldly embrace the new mandate.
He concluded by expressing his eagerness to work closely with the Permanent Secretary, stakeholders, and all staff to advance the government’s policies.
