FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
KONGULAI AND KOMBITO WATER SUPPLY REINSTATED
Solomon Water would like to inform our valued customers that water supply from Kongulai and Kombito source have been reinstated yesterday evening.
Kongulai and Kombito are our two key source with majority of customers feeding from those source. The Water sources were switched off late on Friday night following the heavy rainfalls resulting in the increase of turbidity at the water sources.
Turbidity is a measurement of how cloudy the water is in surface water sources and can be caused by silt, mud, algae, or other particles in the water.
The action to turn off supply is necessary to ensure we do not supply water that is unsafe for drink or use. Our disinfection process cannot kill any bacteria when there is high turbidity which makes it unsafe and poses health risks to customers. High turbidity in water will also clog pipes and customer’s facilities.
Given the shutdown period, our water production system will fully recover within the next 48 hours and customers will expect to received water, within the next 48 hours.
A boil water advisory is currently in effect and we advise customers receiving water to boil water before consumption.
We sincerely apologize to our valued customers on this situation and thank you for your patience and we appreciate your understanding.
