IPAM AND MPGIS CO FACILITATED A SERIES OF TRAINING FOR PUBLIC OFFICERS IN TEMOTU PROVINCE

The Ministry of Provincial Government and Institutional Strengthening (MPGIS) facilitated a capacity building and training program for the Temotu Provincial Government officials, in collaboration with the Institute of Public Administration and Management (IPAM). The IPAM trainings were delivered from the, 27^th April to the 1^st May, 2026. IPAM courses included, Knowing Your Public Service (KYPS), Code of Conduct (COC) and a Performance Management Process (PMP) training. A second PMP training was conducted on the 6^th of May, for Temotu Provincial Health Division. IPAM trainings were facilitated by the Manager LMD Unit, Karen Hiti Titiulu, and Principal CLD Unit officer, Helmah Ray Jack. The trainings were officially closed on the 1^st of May, with the second PMP closing later on the, 6^th of May, 2026.

Participants attending the different trainings included, four (4) members of the Provincial Assembly, and both the seconded and direct employees of the Temotu Provincial Government. Honourable Minister, Michael Mapolu opened the training program. He acknowledged MPGIS for initiating the capacity building and training program for the provincial public officers. He sincerely appreciated IPAM for their availability and for collaborating with MPGIS to deliver the series of trainings. Honourable Mapolu, emphasized that such trainings are very important to build the capacity, knowledge, skills and competency of public officers and the even the members of the of the provincial assembly, to carry out their roles and functions with quality.

A closing ceremony was conducted on the of 1^st May, 2026. Honourable John Wesley Fenua, made the closing remarks, and also spoke on behalf of the participants for the successful delivery of the training. He mentioned that this marked a significant achievement for both honourable members of the provincial assembly and the public officers. He expressed that, the knowledge gained would support their ability to improve work performance and service delivery in the province. He extended his appreciation to the MPGIS for facilitating this training program, and the IPAM Division in the Ministry of Public Services (MPS), for delivering the three trainings. Health Director, Dr. Lynnson John Yai, in his closing remarks for the PMP training, reiterated that this opportunity to learn about PMP is important. It will certainly improve their understanding, and assist them to fulfill the requirements of the PMP. He acknowledged IPAM for conducting the trainings. All officers who reflected on the trainings, spoke highly of this opportunity and the knowledge gained. They say that these series of trainings are important for new officers and is a refresher for senior and serving officers. They would like to see more of these trainings in their province.

IPAM sincerely appreciates MPGIS for the collaboration. IPAM has a similar ongoing arrangement also with the Ministry of Fisheries and Marine Resources over the past two years.
