Commissioner General Ambassador Moses Kouni Mose fronted the TV cameras again on Thursday 24th February for another hour where we were given the opportunity to enlighten the more than 10 million viewers in the Middle East region regarding our presence at the ‘Largest Show on Earth’.
CG Moses told Expo TV that it was indeed a privilege for the Solomon Islands to be represented at Expo 2020 Dubai and to help showcase our unique products and cultures to the people of the UAE and the international community.
On the issue of Climate Change, CG Moses said that the continuous rise in sea level has greatly affected our people dwelling in coastal areas and low-lying atolls.
“Many of our people over the years have had to abandon their homes and even entire villages have to relocate to higher grounds because of the adverse effect of rising sea level whilst those who have been living on coral atolls have had their drinking water system contaminated with seawater”
CG Mose added that many of those living on made Islands have to build artificial Islands as the water levels have begun to rise quickly.
“It’s a huge problem also for both our government and the people as we try our very best to mitigate and better manage the impacts of Climate Change”.
