IMPACT BASED WARNING NUMBER EIGHT ISSUED FOR STRONG WINDS
Impact Based Warning Number Eight issued by the Solomon Islands Meteorological Services at 7:00am this morning on Thursday, 17th April 2025.
An Orange Alert is current for Rennell/Bellona waters, waters south of Western, Guadalcanal, Makira and Russell Islands.
Strong northwest wind flow is expected over the Orange area enclosed on the map.
Likely impacts
Seas will become moderate to rough and moderate swells. Small boats are likely to capsize.
Poor visibility in areas of heavy rain showers and thunderstorms.
Response
Sea travelers are urged to consider safety actions as such winds can produce dangerous wave conditions which are hazardous to small boats.
People should stay informed and prepared.
