HKH CONSTITUENCY DELIVERS ITS 2025 CDF-FUNDED PROJECTS

The Hograno-Kia-Havulei Constituency (HKHC) Office, under the leadership of the Member of Parliament and the Prime Minister Honourable Jeremiah Manele has successfully delivered the final batch of its 2025 CDF-funded livelihood projects, worth $5 million.

These projects included significant support for the productive sector, which targeted improving rural livelihoods.

The delivery, which took place from 21 to 23 February 2026 for recipients in Kolotubi, Susubona and Samasodu Wards, completed the Constituency’s 2025 CDF projects.

The first batch of 2025 CDF projects was delivered on the 7^th of December 2025 for Komola, Kia, and Havulei Ward in Hograno-Kia-Havulei Constituency.

The project materials and equipment were funded through the HKH Constituency Development Funds (CDF) budget allocation from the Solomon Islands Government support for 2025.

Project materials and equipment were delivered under four main categories in compliance with the CDF Act 2023. These include Productive and Resource Sector, Essential Services, Cross-Sectoral, and Social & Cultural.

HKHC Constituency Development Officer (CDO) Apollos Manegere said that their constituency office and Constituency Development Committee has prioritized the productive sector in 2025 CDF development plan.

“Developing the productive sector in rural areas is a multidimensional process which includes supporting traditional agricultural-based economies to diversify and progress into high-value crops such as kava and increasing production in cocoa and copra commodities.

“This also includes promoting and supporting non-farm inputs, particularly small infrastructures and local employment, which eventually leads to an enhanced quality of life and contributes to reducing rural poverty,” CDO Managere said.

He added that HKHC invested a total of $1.6 million in CDF funding towards the Productive Sector, supporting agriculture, fisheries, and tourism activities for various communities and individuals in the constituency.

“This $1.6 million was paid through the Preferred Supplier Arrangement (PSA) component under the Ministry of Rural Development, and was delivered as materials and small equipment,” he added.

CDO Manegere also stated that HKHC assisted Kaevanga Community Development Association (KCDA) with SBD$265,000.00 for its productive sector activities. “This was to assist agricultural activities in Kolomola, Kolotubi and Kaevanga rural farmers.”

“HKHC under this delivery also targeted the fisheries sector, particularly seaweed farming. These projects drew funding under the four main sectors stipulated in the CDF Act 2023.

“Additionally, project materials delivered included those for housing, water and sanitation projects, women and youth assistance, schools and communities’ infrastructures,” Manegere added.

On behalf of the recipients of Kaevanga, Kolomola and Kolotubi Ward the Managing Director and Chairman of the Kaevanga Community Development Association (KCDA), Dudley Longamei, said they thanked HKHC for the timely support through the constituency development program.

“Through these funding supports, our local farmers can have the right farming tools for our cocoa farmers, kava farmers and coconut rehabilitation program.

“We can assure HKHC and our Member of Parliament that KCDA will support our local farmers in these three Wards to engage meaningfully in their respective farming areas to increase their production and add value to their product.

“This is the kind of rural development initiative our people need and targeting an improved quality of lives in our rural areas. We must balance our interventions through balancing economic development, social equity, and environmental sustainability,” he added.

Mr. Manegere further acknowledged the Government through the Ministry of Rural Development (MRD) for their continuous support towards HKHC to implement the 2025 CDF-Funding projects.

This project delivery is a testament and demonstration of the government’s commitment to rural development through MRD to support and improve rural livelihoods, even in a small way.

“This support under the CDF program is aimed at improving the livelihoods of our people in our most remote rural communities.

“Despite limited resources and finances, the government will continue to support constituency offices to facilitate progress, all be it in a small but meaningful way, in and/or for our rural areas and people.”
