The Solomon Islands Government is putting a ban all international flights to and from Honiara which became effective last Friday as the country intensifies strict measures to prevent COVID-19 from reaching Honiara.
Prime Minister Manasseh Sogavare had announced the flight ban in his address to the nation on Friday saying that this move is part of closing our borders for international flights which is being progressively implemented with a partial lock down on international flight services.
Solomon Airlines scheduled flights have been suspended and will only provide flight services as and when required to support emergency operations and the repatriation of our citizens if that becomes necessary.
In that connection, only returning citizens and residents have been permitted to enter the country from the Brisbane – Honiara flight. Upon arrival over the past week they have been placed under strict compulsory quarantine for 14 days in our quarantine facilities.
