Five suspects in relation to Luiniua murder incident remanded at CSSI
The Honiara Magistrate’s court has granted a remand application by police to detain five suspects in connection with the murder incident at Luaniua, Lord howe on 13th April 2026.
The remand application was submitted after police applied to keep five suspects in custody over the alleged murder of a male person on 5th April 2026 near a football field in Lianiua.
Acting Commissioner Mr. Mathias Lenialu said while they were drinking beer, a fight broke out and the defendants attacked the victim, resulting in his death.
Commissioner Lenialu said all five suspects were charged with murder contrary to section 200 of the Code and will appear in court on a later date as investigations continue.
Mr. Lenialu is urging witnesses to come forward with any information that could aid in the investigation.
The police chief appeals to both parties involved in this sad incident to refrain from retaliation and allow police to deal with the matter and bring those involved to face justice.
