Eight RSIPF Officers on UN Mission in South Sudan
Eight officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) departed on 18 March for the United Nations Mission (UN) in South Sudan.
The eight officers who represent the Solomon Islands will serve under the UN Police for a year.
The Acting Commissioner of Police Mathia Lenialu and Royal Solomon Islands Police Force and the Australian Federal Policing Program (RAPPP) Commander Hall O’Meagher officially farewelled the officers, acknowledging their commitment and professionalism as they embark on this important international mission.
“I am pleased to note that all deploying officers have successfully completed the required UN pre-deployment training and assessments in Pinkenba, Australia,” the Commissioner said.
The RSIPF also acknowledged the UNs Police for providing the opportunity for the Solomon Islands to contribute to international peace and stability.
The Commissioner expressed gratitude to the Solomon Islands Government, particularly the Ministry of Police, National Security, and Correctional Services and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and External Trade, for their ongoing support toward the deployment and broader international policing cooperation initiatives undertaken by the RSIPF.
“To the officers deploying, you carry with you the confidence and best wishes of the RSIPF and people of Solomon Islands. I wish you a safe deployment and every success in the performance of your duties,” Commissioner Lenialu said.
The deployment highlights the Solomon Islands’ continued commitment to supporting global peacekeeping efforts and strengthening international policing partnerships.
Commissioner Lenialu also commended the officers’ families for their unwavering support, noting that they were present at the airport to bid them farewell.
