EAST MAKIRA CONSTITUENCY COMPLETES DELIVERY OF 2025 CDF-FUNDED PROJECTS
The East Makira Constituency (EMC) office, has successfully completed implementation of its 2025 Constituency Development Funds (CDF) programme.
The latest shipment covers 2025 CDF-funded projects valued at $3.2 million, which were managed and procured directly by the Ministry of Rural Development (MRD) from approved suppliers.
These projects are distributed across key sectors as outlined below:
Productive Sector
- Agriculture
- Forestry (Milling Projects)
- Commerce – Women Empowerment (Bakery & Sewing Projects)
Essential Services
- Water & Sanitation
- Energy – Renewable Energy Solutions (Solar Projects)
According to the Constituency Development Officer, Timan Tauni, all projects strictly adhere to the approved 2025 CDF categories
CDO Tauni stated that this achievement underscores the constituency office’s ongoing commitment to supporting individuals, organised interest groups, and communities within East Makira through the transparent and equitable distribution of resources.
Meanwhile, the Honourable Minister and Member of Parliament for EMC Franklyn Derek Wasi acknowledged the Government, through the Ministry of Rural Development (MRD), for its continued support to EMC in implementing the 2025 CDF-funded projects.
He also expressed gratitude to the people of EMC for their continued support, patience, and understanding despite delays in delivery.
This project delivery serves as a testament to the government’s commitment to rural development through MRD, aimed at supporting and improving rural livelihoods, even in modest but meaningful ways.
The EMC Office in Honiara encouraged recipients of the CDF-funded projects to make the best use of their opportunities and to take care of the assets provided.
“For those who receive projects under the productive sector, work hard to improve your business and help strengthen the local economy in our constituency,” MP Wasi said.
MRD reaffirmed that this support under the CDF program is intended to improve the livelihoods of people in the most remote rural communities. Despite limited resources and finances, the government will continue to support constituency offices to facilitate progress, small but significant, in and for rural areas and their people.
