EAST CHOISEUL CONSTITUENCY WRAPS UP 2025 CDF PROGRAM IMPLEMENTATION 

The East Choiseul Constituency (ECC), under the leadership of Honourable Manasseh Sogavare, has successfully completed the implementation of its 2025 Constituency Development Program (CDP).

This follows the recent delivery of projects to communities in June, supporting initiatives approved under the 2025 funding allocation.

This also marks the second and final phase of the $5 million allocation, comprising $3.2 million under the CDF Preferred Supplier Arrangement (PSA) component and $1.8 million as a grant to East Choiseul, in accordance with the CDF Act 2023 guidelines.

Constituency Development Officer (CDO) Collin Bemama Qalokisa stated that projects were delivered across four main categories in compliance with the CDF Act 2023. These include Productive and Resource Sector, Essential Services, Cross-Sectoral, and Social & Cultural.

Delivered goods include hardware and building materials for communities and households; 184 petrol drums for income-generating initiatives; water tanks to improve livelihoods; solar sets; 15 OBM engines (2×60hp, 6×40hp & 7×15hp), an ice-making machine, 48 batteries, and 24 solar panels for the Kosara fisheries project.

Part of the 2025 project support was delivered end of last year.

Qalokisa noted that the distribution was successful, reaching all main ports along ECC from Ghoghobe to Susuka, benefiting communities as part of the ongoing development efforts.

He stated that communities and beneficiaries were overjoyed to receive their long-awaited projects, which aim to improve social and economic livelihoods.

“This achievement underscores the constituency office’s commitment under Honourable Sogavare’s leadership to community development,” he added.

Qalokisa also acknowledged the government, through the Ministry of Rural Development (MRD), for its continued support in implementing the 2025 CDF-funded projects.

He further commended the people of ECC for their patience and support despite delays.

This project delivery reflects the government’s dedication to rural development through MRD, supporting and enhancing livelihoods even in small ways.

“This support aims to improve the lives of our people in remote communities. Despite limited resources, the government remains committed to assisting constituency offices to facilitate development,” MRD emphasized.

Qalokisa expressed gratitude on behalf of the ECC Office to the national government and MRD for unwavering support of the Constituency Development Program, which continues to fund various community initiatives nationwide.

He also extended appreciation to Honourable Sogavare and the constituents of ECC for their ongoing support.

Qalokisa stated that 2026 projects will be delivered once funds are allocated by the national government.

CDF is the financing component of the Solomon Islands Government’s (SIG) Constituency Development Program, administered by MRD and implemented across 50 constituencies to improve livelihoods. The Ministry’s vision is to empower Solomon Islanders toward self-sufficiency, improved livelihoods, and sustainable development.
