DO NOT ABUSE OR THREATEN FRONTLINERS: PM WARNS
“Please respect our frontliners as they are doing their duty to protect the people of this country”
PRIME Minister Manasseh Sogavare has warned people not to abuse and threaten our frontliners.
Speaking during his nationwide address today, the Prime Minister said he was informed that some members of the public are abusing and threatening our vaccination teams.
“Please respect our frontliners as they are doing their duty to protect the people of this country,” he said.
Prime Minister Sogavare urged good citizens of the country to work with our vaccination teams and help them to do their job to protect our families, our communities, and our country.
“I ask all citizens of our beloved country that love your country, that want to see this nation prosper and its people protected from COVID-19, to work together with our frontliners,” he said.
The Prime Minister also reminded the public that it is an offence under the SOPE Regulations to abuse or threaten any authorized officer; that is doing his or her job to protect the citizens of this country from COVID-19.
He said such abuse and threats will not be tolerated and perpetrators will be arrested and charged.
“I need not remind you all that the only reason this country still enjoys freedom is a direct result of the sacrifices of our frontline workers and their families. They deserve our appreciation, not abuse or threats. Please accord them the respect they deserve,” he said.
