On 18 March 2024. The Correctional Service Solomon Islands (CSSI) has farewelled late Sergeant Marvin Parina at the Ascension Church of Anglican in Sand-fly Island, Central Island Province.
Deputy Commissioner Operation Mr. Michael Nagu and Correctional Service Emergency Response Group Personnel’s do farewell a long serving officer who sadly passed away on the 14 March 2024, at the National Referral Hospital.
Deputy Commissioner Operation Mr. Michael Nagu says, “on behalf of the MPNS&CS, CSSI Commissioner, CSSI Senior Executive, Commandants, Directors, all Ranks and Files of CSSI family across Solomon Islands”.
“We are gathering here today in remembrance the life of late Sergeant Marvin Parina and we will remember his good days in past decades during his time in force. As we come together to support one another during this difficult time and have no fear because the Bibles says “the Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged – Deuteronomy 31:8-9”
Deputy Commissioner Nagu said, we valued so much the contributions of late Sergeant Marvin Parina to the CSSI and the people of Solomon Islands. The length of time he served in the CSSI was highly commendable and honored by all ranks and files within the Service.
He unselfishly gave himself to serving the people of this country by recruitment into the CSSI.
He adds, our hearts are breaking for his untimely passing away and took his life. His passing away is not only a loss to you the wife and children, relatives and communities of Olevuga Village, Sand-Fly Island, but also a great loss to the Correctional Service of Solomon Islands.

Late Marvin Parina was enlisted in the Solomon Islands Prison Service and now then the Correctional Service Solomon Islands on 2nd October 2006.
He then posted to various operational units in the CSSI and Provincial Correctional Centre with vast experiences and leadership potentiality and competence.
He held a rank of Sergeant on 14 August 2012 and currently posted at the Correctional Headquarter Sentry Post, till his passing on.
Late Sergeant Marvin Parina has served the Correctional Service Solomon Islands and Solomon Islands Government for nearly 18 years of service.
The body of late Sergeant Parina was escorted to his home village, Olevuga in Sand-Fly Island, Central Island Province on Sunday morning 17 March 2024, accompanied by CSSI Officers and with his immediate family members and relatives.
