CSSI ERG Personnel’s undergo CPLT Training
On 17 February 2025. The Emergency Response Group (ERG) of the Correctional Service Solomon Islands (CSSI) undergo a weeklong training with the China Police Liaison Team (CPLT) at the RSIPF Headquarter, here in Honiara.
Speaking during the official opening of the training program CPLT Commissioner Mr. Shenghuang Liu said, it is both an honour and a privilege to stand here today at the opening of this training program.
“On behalf of the Chinese Police Liaison Team (CPLT), I would like to extend our warmest welcome to all participants and express our sincere gratitude to RSIPF and CSSI for your trust and support in making this program possible”.
“This training program is a testament to the strong partnership and friendship between CPLT and CSSI. Our goal is simple yet profound: to share knowledge, exchange experiences, and work together to enhance the skills and capabilities of Correctional Officers”, says Commissioner Liu.
He also highlighted in his remarks that over the next few days, our Trainers will cover a range of topics, including unarmed control and défense, handcuffing, search and take away, group tactics, security checks and first aid.
He adds these topics are design to address practical needs and improve operational efficiency, and we hope this program will not only enhance your professional skills but also strengthen the bonds between our teams.
“This program is not just about teaching; it is about learning from one another, building mutual understanding, and fostering a spirit of cooperation”.
“I encourage you to actively participate, share your insights, and contribute your valuable advice throughout the program. This training is more than just a series of session. It is a step forward in our shared commitment to peace, security, and development. So let us work together, learn from each other, and build a brighter future for our nations”, says Commissioner Liu.
RSIPF Assistant Commissioner National Operation. Mr. Lionel Kapisa, acknowledge CSSI Commissioner Mactus Forau for seeing the need to upskill ERG and approved the training for his ERG officers.
He also thank the CPLT Commissioner and his Instructors for their commitment in ensuring that the ERG training is conducted, and they are well experienced Instructors who have the knowledge and skills on the lessons that will be delivered to CSSI ERG members.
Assistant Commissioner Kapisa remind the ERG participants that the skills and knowledge that you will acquire through this training will help you effectively respond and de-escalate any situation within Correctional facilities both here in Honiara and the Provinces.
CSSI Commissioner Mr. Mactus Forau thank and acknowledge the China Police Liaison Team (CPLT) for maintaining their friendship with CSSI. Our relationship started to grow deeper and deeper, and also having a lot of assistance coming on board.
He also acknowledge the RSIPF Commissioner and Executive for their ongoing support to Corrections and making the avenue possible with CPLT.
“The training of our staff is fundamental and also the training of our human resources is very crucial and important to upskill our staff efficiency and capability”, says Commissioner Forau.
