CSSI, ERG personal undergo Instructor Training Program
Emergency Response Group (ERG) Personal of the Correctional Service Solomon Islands (CSSI) undergo a weeklong Instructor Training Program with the China Police Liaison Team (CPLT) recently at the RSIPF Headquarter, here in Honiara.
Speaking during the official opening of the training program CPLT Deputy Commissioner Mr. Zheng Wu said, “Today, we’re here to launch the instructor training program organized by the China Police Liaison Team (CPLT) for CPP and PRD of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF), as well as the Emergency Response Group (ERG) of CSSI.
“On behalf of the team and Commissioner Liu Shenghuang, I’d like to extend a warm welcome to all the Instructors joining us today! I also want to thank everyone from the RSIPF and CSSI for your ongoing support of China-Solomon Islands Police Cooperation”, says Commissioner Wu
Deputy Commissioner Wu echoed, over the past few years, China and the Solomon Islands have strengthened cooperation across many areas, especially in police exchanges and collaboration. This training program is another milestone in our partnership and a key step toward addressing regional security challenges and boosting law enforcement capabilities.
“As an instructor training program, this initiative focuses on one key goal: building a team of skilled instructors who can drive professional development. Instructors are the backbone of police training—they pass on knowledge, build capabilities, and shape the future of policing.
Mr. Wu highlighted through this program, we hope Solomon Islands’ instructors will gain advanced policing concepts and teaching methods, elevate their training skills, and lay a strong foundation for the long-term growth of Solomon Islands’ policing efforts.
He also highlighted in his remarks that over the few days our instructors will covers a wide range of topics, from teaching skills to team building, tactical command, practical hand signals, managing violent incidents, and physical fitness training with injury prevention.
“Our team of trainers will deliver structured courses, combining their extensive experience and expertise and we also hope this training becomes a platform for sharing ideas, learning from each other, and exploring policing models tailored to Solomon Islands’ needs.
Deputy Commissioner Wu said, I have a few hopes for everyone: First, let’s approach this training with open minds, engage actively, and work together to find policing solutions that fit Solomon Islands.
Second, let’s make sure to turn theory into practice – apply what you learn in real-world scenarios.
Third, let’s use this opportunity to deepen the cooperation between our police forces and build stronger ties.
“I hope this training is a huge success! I’m confident that all instructors will gain valuable insights and bring new energy to Solomon Islands’ policing efforts. And I hope you’ll feel the genuine support and friendship from the Chinese Ministry of Public Security during this program”, says Deputy Commissioner Wu
CSSI Deputy Commissioner Operation Mr. Michael Nagu said this training program is designed to enhance the teaching abilities of participating instructors by providing them with advanced skills, practical training methodologies and effective tools for knowledge transfer.
He adds, the program focuses on A learner-centre approach to train, strengthening communication and facilitation skills and building confidence to deliver high impact training sessions
He also extended his heartfelt gratitude to all those who have contributed to make this program possible especially the Chinese Police Liaison Team, RSIPF Executive, the Police Response Department and OST instructors.
“Your dedication and support are instrumental in shaping the future of our security forces”, says Deputy Commissioner Nagu.
