CSSI 20th Conference Concludes Successfully
HONIARA, Solomon Islands – The Correctional Service of Solomon Islands (CSSI) has successfully concluded its weeklong 20th Senior Managers Strategic Planning Conference, which officially closed over the weekend at the King Solomon Hotel Conference Room in Honiara.
Speaking at the closing ceremony, Commissioner Mactus Forau said that over the past five days, senior leaders from across the organisation had come together to reflect on CSSI’s performance, assess challenges, review priorities, and chart a clear path forward for the future of the Service.
“I am pleased to say that throughout our deliberations, the conference theme, ‘Reflect, Reform and Realign: Strengthening our Strategic Direction and Business Priorities’, has remained at the centre of our discussions,” says Commissioner Forau.
The Commissioner encouraged senior leaders of Corrections to continue reflecting honestly on the organisation’s current position, identifying areas requiring reform, and realigning efforts, resources, and leadership focus to ensure CSSI continues to meet the evolving needs of the Government and the people of Solomon Islands.
Commissioner Forau noted that one of the most significant outcomes of the conference was the alignment of CSSI’s annual business work planning processes with the organisation’s strategic direction.
He said that through constructive discussions and collaborative planning, participants had strengthened their commitment to delivering outcomes that are measurable, achievable, and aligned with the GREAT priorities.
“This demonstrates our readiness to move forward together with greater clarity, accountability, and purpose,” he said.
Commissioner Forau also acknowledged and thanked the Australian Government for its continued support of CSSI’s development and reform journey.
“Your ongoing partnership plays a significant role in strengthening our institutional capability and supporting the advancement of correctional services in Solomon Islands,”.
In closing, the Commissioner encouraged all Directors and Commandants to carry forward the commitments made during the conference and translate them into practical actions that will strengthen the organisation and improve service delivery across CSSI.
The conference brought together senior leaders from CSSI headquarters and correctional centres nationwide to review organisational performance, strengthen strategic alignment, and develop priorities for the coming year.
