Commissioner Forau Announces New CSSI Women’s Network Committee

Honiara, 23 April 2025 – Eight executive members of the Correctional Service Solomon Islands (CSSI) Women’s Network have been officially announced by Commissioner Mactus Forau during the Commissioner’s Parade held this morning at CSSI Headquarters, Rove.

Speaking at the event, Commissioner Forau stated, “On behalf of the Interim Committee of the CSSI Women’s Network, it is both a privilege and an honour to formally announce the election results of the CSSI Women’s Network Committee, following the recent ballot conducted in March 2025.”

He added, “We are pleased to inform you that the newly elected Committee will now assume full responsibility for overseeing the activities and initiatives of the CSSI Women’s Network from 2025 to 2027.”

The newly elected CSSI Women’s Network Committee members are:

• Chairlady: Inspector Martha Alabae
• Vice Chairlady: Staff Sergeant Elsie Kenohe
• Secretary: Staff Sergeant Wendy Changuri
• Treasurer: Staff Sergeant Justina Piokera
• Committee Members:
  • Sergeant Ileen Lae
  • Sergeant Kylie Toata
  • Sergeant Linda Saru
  • Correctional Officer Dorothy Osi

Commissioner Forau commended each of these dedicated women for their patience, humility, and commitment throughout the nomination and election process.

He called upon all CSSI female officers to give their full support to the newly elected Committee, emphasizing that their encouragement and participation are vital to achieving the objectives of the CSSI Women’s Network. “As the saying goes, ‘No man is an island’—through teamwork and collaboration, we can create meaningful impact and progress for all women in CSSI,” he said.

Commissioner Forau also extended sincere appreciation to the CSSI Executive Team for their unwavering support and for facilitating a smooth and successful election process.

“A special acknowledgment goes to the Interim Committee members for their tireless efforts in organizing and ensuring all formalities were completed effectively and on time,” he added.

He also thanked the respected Commandants across all locations for enabling the participation of their women officers in this important process. “Your leadership made a significant difference in ensuring a smooth and inclusive election.”

Once again, congratulations to the newly elected CSSI Women’s Network Committee. Let us continue to support and uplift one another as we work towards a stronger and more inclusive CSSI.
