Commanders and Directors conference officially open in Honiara
The Minister of Police National Security and Correctional Services, the Honourable John Junior Tuhaika, has officially opened the Provincial Police Commanders (PPCs) and Departmental Directors of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) on 5 September 2026 at the Rove police headquarters in Honiara.
All PPCs and Directors gathered to discuss the RSIPF Annual Business Plan, which stipulated under RSIPF Strategic Direction 2026-2036 with the theme ‘strengthening core policing through discipline, leadership and professional excellence’.
Minister of Police Honourable John Junior Tuhaika, during his opening remarks, said public trust and confidence in the RSIPF are not automatically granted but must be earned; every interaction between an officer and a citizen must reflect absolute professionalism.
Honourable Tuhaika also stressed that this conference was also held for the finalisation of the 2027 annual business plan. It is a strategic vision that will be launched on the RSIPF’s 10-YEAR STRATEGIC DIRECTION (2026-2036).
He said to all PPCs and directors that this vision cannot become another document placed on a shelf; all strategic goals must be measured and actionable by 2027. All commanders and directors are to shift from just planning goals on paper to having them done, actively implemented in the field.
The Minister of Police acknowledged the ongoing support from our development partners, RAPPP-Australia, Solomon Island Police Support (SIPSP) and China Police Liaison Team (CPLT), and reminded them to maximise the impact of their support to ensure stronger alignment between assistance programmes and RSIPF priorities.
Mr Tuhaika concluded by urging the senior leaders of the RSIPF to maintain their commitment on four (4) pillars: LEADERSHIP, CODE OF CONDUCT, ACCOUNTABILITY AND EXECUTION. He stated to all senior leaders to focus on their practical outcomes that are beneficial to frontliners and the communities the RSIPF serves.
