Ballot Paper Draws Successfully Conducted for By-Elections
The Solomon Islands Electoral Commission (SIEC) has successfully carried out ballot paper draws to determine the positions of candidates contesting the upcoming by-elections in West Baegu/Fataleka Ward 5 and Koviloko Ward 7.
A total of nine candidates will contest the two seats. Six candidates are standing for West Baegu/Fataleka Ward 5 in Malaita, while three candidates are contesting Koviloko Ward 7 in Isabel Province. There were no female candidates nominated.
The Election Notice containing the names, symbols, and photos of the nominated candidates who will be contesting these two elections will be published in the respective wards for public viewing in the coming days.
The Electoral Commission emphasizes that ballot draws are a vital step in the election process, safeguarding fairness for all candidates and reinforcing public confidence in the integrity of the elections.
SIEC encourages voters in West Baegu/Fataleka Ward 5 and Koviloko Ward 7 to stay informed by following updates through the Solomon Islands Broadcasting Corporation (SIBC) and the Commission’s official communication platforms as preparations continue for polling day.
