The Management, staff and inmates of Kirakira Correctional Centre (KCC) welcomed the Australian High Commissioner His Excellency Mr Rod Hilton and his Delegation at the Correctional Centre facility on 12 June 2023 as part of his official visit to Makira-Ulawa Province.
Mr Hilton met with the Commandant and staff of KCC, and together they discussed how important security is for economic development in Makira-Ulawa Province.
Mr Hilton highlighted that the justice sector is important for security and safety. Australia was pleased to be the number one partner for Solomon Islands in the justice sector.
Mr Hilton said he will raise issues prosecuted by the KCC management and staff with the CSSI Commissioner.
He acknowledged and thanked everyone for their good work done in ensuring the Centre’s operations run smoothly and for maintaining security, safety and stability in the province.
KCC Commandant Michael Koroa thanked His Excellency Rod Hilton for his official visit to the Centre. By visiting the province, he can see for himself the infrastructure development issues and challenges faced in the Centre’s day-to-day operations.
