Agriculture Minister lauds frontline workers
All frontline workers throughout the country has been commended for their hard work.
Minister for the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (MAL), Honourable Senley Levi Filualea conveyed the acclamation while contributing in Parliament during the Sine die motion, last week.
“Mr Speaker Sir, allow me to thank all our front-liners for their hard work. We salute you and pray God keep you safe as you carry out your responsibility serving our nation,” he said.
Hon. Minister Filualea said safeguarding the lives of our people and their livelihoods is our duty as a government and so we must do all we can to secure a safe environment for all Solomon Islanders.
He added that the Extension of the State of Public Emergency is a must – as is practically our only protection.
At the same time, Minister Hon. Filualea said this year ushered in a new era in the history of mankind because of the COVID-19 pandemic. It is a once-in-a-century health crisis that transformed into what everyone believe will be the worst health, social and economic crises the whole world has ever experienced with far reaching effects predicted to last for decades to come.
“Mr Speaker Sir we now have the COVID19 on our shores and the numbers keeps increasing. Our comfort is that these cases are contained in the quarantine stations because of the decision we made earlier to quarantine every single persons that comes into our country.
“And so Mr Speaker Sir, the State of Public Emergency and its respective regulations that is allowing us to contain the diseases in these confined environment – the quarantine centres – is now our only best defence,” Hon. Filualea said.
