
PM Wale accepts a didgeridoo gift from Commissioner Barrett
AFP Commissioner Barrett makes courtesy visit to PM Wale
Honiara, 13 August 2026: Australian Federal Police [AFP] Commissioner Krissy Barrett paid a courtesy visit to Prime Minister Mathew Wale this afternoon at the Prime Minister’s Office.
The two leaders discussed matters of mutual interest and the growing cooperation between the AFP and the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force [RSIPF].
Commissioner Barrett returned to the Solomon Islands 23 years after serving as RAMSI personnel. She updated Prime Minister Wale on her engagements in Honiara, including an emotional visit to the RAMSI Museum at the National Museum Centre.
Prime Minister Wale thanked Commissioner Barrett for the AFP’s ongoing support to RSIPF programmes. He said the Solomon Islands Government, through the RSIPF, welcomes the continued partnership and the positive impact it has had on the force.
Commissioner Barrett reaffirmed that the AFP stands ready to support the RSIPF whenever needed.
The courtesy visit reinforces the strong and cordial partnership between the two police forces, now and into the future.
