Acting PM Sade Visits NRH Children’s Ward

HONIARA, Solomon Islands | 8 June 2026: Acting Prime Minister, Hon. Francis Sade, accompanied by his wife Madam Sade, today paid a special visit to the Children’s Ward at the National Referral Hospital (NRH) in Honiara.

Upon arrival, the Acting Prime Minister and his delegation were formally welcomed by NRH Chief Executive Officer Dr George Malefoasi and senior health administrators.

The visit reflects the newly formed Government for Reform, Empowerment, Accountability & Transformation (GREAT) Coalition’s immediate focus on community engagement, social welfare, and improving critical public service delivery in the health sector.

The Acting Prime Minister and Madam Sade were joined by senior officials from the Office of the Prime Minister and Cabinet (OPMC). Following their reception by hospital management, the Acting PM also made a brief stop at the Accident and Emergency Ward.

At the Children’s Ward, the delegation spent time interacting with young patients, their families, and medical staff, offering words of encouragement and distributing comfort gifts to the children.

Speaking during the visit, Hon. Francis Sade emphasised that the GREAT Coalition is committed to ensuring vulnerable citizens, especially children, receive high-quality care and support.

“Our children are the future of this nation, and ensuring their health, dignity, and well-being is a shared national responsibility,” Acting Prime Minister Sade said. “The GREAT Coalition places public health and hospital funding at the top of our reform agenda. We want to ensure our medical institutions are fully equipped to serve our people efficiently,” he added.

The Acting Prime Minister commended Dr Malefoasi, senior administrators, and frontline doctors, nurses, and support staff at NRH for their dedication and resilience under challenging conditions.

Firsthand assessments of public institutions like NRH are vital to helping the new administration align upcoming budget allocations and policy directives with ground-level realities.

The GREAT Coalition reaffirms its commitment to transparency and ongoing direct engagement with public services and communities across the country to drive long-term development and national unity.
