RSIPF EOD to Conduct UXO Operations in Choiseul Province
The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF), through its Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Department, will conduct planned unexploded ordnance (UXO) operations in Choiseul Province on 26 October to 30 October 2026.
The operations will cover Tarekukure, Tarepasike, Supizae, Sagigae, Voza, Taro and surrounding communities. Activities will take place between 8:00 am and 4:00 pm daily and will include controlled detonations at designated operational sites as part of efforts to safely dispose of UXOs or bombs.
RSIPF EOD Department Director Inspector Clifford Tunuki, is urging residents and communities in the affected areas to remain clear of operational sites while EOD activities are underway.
“For the safety of the public and our officers, people must stay away from designated operational areas whenever EOD activities and controlled detonations are taking place. Safety measures, including evacuations and roadblocks where necessary, will be enforced to protect communities during these operations,” Inspector Tunuki said.
The RSIPF will ensure that affected communities are informed of specific operational sites and any necessary safety arrangements. Residents are urged to follow instructions from EOD personnel and Police officers on the ground and to cooperate fully with safety measures throughout the operation.
The RSIPF also reminds communities across Choiseul Province to remain vigilant and report any suspected explosive ordnance. Members of the public must not touch, move or interfere with suspected UXO but should report its location to the RSIPF EOD Department on 7495215 or notify the nearest police station.
The RSIPF thanks the people of Choiseul Province for their cooperation and support as these operations continue to reduce the risks posed by UXO and help keep our communities safe.
