NORTH GUADALCANAL CONSTITUENCY COMPLETES 2025 CDF IMPLEMENTATION
The North Guadalcanal Constituency (NGC), under the leadership of Honourable Dr Paul Bosawai, has successfully completed implementation of its 2025 Constituency Development Program (CDP), following the delivery of projects to communities and institutions supported under the 2025 funding allocation.
This marks the final phase of a $5 million allocation, comprising $3.2 million under the CDF Preferred Supplier Arrangement (PSA) component and $1.8 million as a grant to North Guadalcanal, in accordance with CDF Act 2023 guidelines.
Constituency Development Officer (CDO) Simon Ngoli said projects were delivered across four categories required under the Act; Productive and Resource Sector, Essential Services, Cross-Sectoral, and Social & Cultural.
Earlier this year, the constituency supported 15 schools with hardware materials worth about $200,000. Its flagship project handover took place in June, launching 13 Green Economic Zones which consist of villages and communities, along with 13 trucks worth $700,000 from the CDF under the NGC 2025 budget allocation, complemented by $1.5 million in support from the People’s Republic of China (PRC) under its (NGC) RSDP 2025 funding allocation.
Last month, the constituency delivered the final round of projects for the year, supporting women and persons with disabilities, hardware materials for 12 economic zones under the productive sector, solar and lighting components for churches and water & sanitation initiatives. Other support includes education in terms of tuition fee assistance, road infrastructure upgrades, support to churches and families across NGC.
CDO Ngoli said this recent distribution marks the final delivery under the constituency’s 2025 commitments, as NGC prepares for 2026 program implementation, which has yet to begin due to funding not being available from the national government.
He described the 2025 CDF rollout as a success, having covered all sectors mandated under the CDF Act 2023, and said communities were pleased with the support received toward improving their social and economic livelihoods.
“This achievement underscores the constituency office’s commitment, under Honourable Dr Bosawai’s leadership, to community development,” he said.
Ngoli acknowledged the Ministry of Rural Development (MRD) for its continued support in implementing the 2025 CDF-funded projects, and thanked the people of North Guadalcanal for their patience and support throughout the year.
He also expressed appreciation to Honourable Dr Bosawai and NGC constituents for their ongoing support, and confirmed that 2026 projects will proceed once funds are allocated by the national government.
Members of the Constituency Development Committee (CDC), in collaboration with the constituency office and communities, coordinated the project deliveries.
MRD said the support “aims to improve the lives of our people in remote communities,” adding that despite limited resources, “the government remains committed to assisting constituency offices to facilitate development.”
CDF is the financing component of the Solomon Islands Government’s Constituency Development Program, administered by the Ministry of Rural Development (MRD) and implemented across 50 constituencies to improve livelihoods. The Ministry’s vision is to empower Solomon Islanders toward self-sufficiency, improved livelihoods, and sustainable development.
