National Consumer Price Index declines by 0.2 percent in July 2026
The National Consumer Price Index (CPI) has dropped by 0.2 percent to 134.8 in July 2026.
According to the report released by the Solomon Islands National Statistics Office, SINSO, through the year, compared to the same month in 2025, the National CPI rose by 3.3 percent.
The most significant changes by major expenditure groups from the previous month include:
- Food and Non-Alcoholic Beverages: (-0.1%)
- Alcoholic beverages, tobacco and narcotics: (-2.5%)
- Housing, water, electricity, gas & other fuels: (+3.3%)
- Furnishing, household equipment & routine household maintenance: (-0.1%)
- Transport: (-2.2%)
The Solomon Islands inflation rate calculated on a 3-months moving average basis was +4.3% in July 2026.
Similarly, the corresponding inflation rates for imported items and other (domestic) items were 4.3% respectively in July 2026
The Solomon Islands underlying rates of inflation based on a 3-months moving average was observed between +1.3% and +2.2% in July 2026.
The headline inflation rates for the respective provincial towns calculated on a 3-months moving average basis were: Honiara: (+4.6%); Auki: (+0.8%); Gizo: (+1.6%); and Noro: (+4.7%).

Honiara: (-0.2%)
The most significant changes in movements include:
- Food and Non-Alcoholic Beverages: (-0.6%).
- Alcoholic beverages, tobacco and narcotics: (-2.0%).
- Housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels: (+3.6%).
- Furnishings, household equipment & routine household maintenance: (-0.1%).
- Transport: (-2.3%).
Auki: (+0.1%).
The main contributors to the movements were:
- Food and Non-Alcoholic Beverages: (+0.7%).
- Alcoholic beverages, tobacco and narcotics: (-3.6%).
Gizo: (+0.1%)
The main drivers to these movements were:
- Food and Non-Alcoholic Beverages: (+4.2%).
- Alcoholic beverages, tobacco and narcotics: (-24.2%).
- Housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels: (-0.1%).
- Furnishings, household equipment & routine household maintenance: (-0.2%).
