CURRICULUM REVIEW SPECIALISTS
Recruitment of Two National Curriculum Review Specialists Senior Secondary Education Improvement Project (SSEIP) Ministry of Education and Human Resource Development (MEHRD).
The Ministry of Education and Human Resource Development (MEHRD), through the Senior Secondary Education Improvement Project (SSEIP), invites Expressions of Interest (EOIs) from suitably qualified and experienced professionals for the following positions:
- National Curriculum Review Specialist – Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences (18 months)
- National Curriculum Review Specialist – STEM and Applied Technologies (18 months)
Background
Under SSEIP, Output 1 supports the reform of the senior secondary curriculum for Years 10–12, including the development of 20 subject curriculum documents and associated teaching and learning materials (TLMs). To strengthen MEHRD’s Curriculum Development Unit and ensure quality assurance, two national consultants will be recruited and embedded within the CDU.
Key Responsibilities
- Review curriculum documents and teaching and learning materials for assigned subjects (Years 10–12).
- Ensure alignment with the Senior Secondary Curriculum Framework and the Solomon Islands Education Strategic Framework 2016–2030.
- Provide written feedback on quality, contextual relevance, cultural appropriateness, and pedagogical soundness.
- Mainstream cross-cutting themes such as gender equality, social inclusion, disability awareness, peace and unity, reproductive health, and climate and disaster resilience.
- Participate in technical review meetings, workshops, and collaborative sessions with MEHRD and PMU.
- Contribute to quarterly progress reports and end-of-assignment reporting.
Qualification Requirements
Applicants must have:
- A degree in education or relevant subject area (humanities, social sciences, economics, business, science, mathematics, agricultural science, engineering, IT, or related fields).
- At least 5 years of professional experience in the Solomon Islands education sector.
- At least 5 years of curriculum development, review, assessment, or teaching experience at the secondary level.
- Demonstrated expertise in relevant subject clusters (Arts/Humanities or STEM/Applied Technologies).
- Strong knowledge of the Solomon Islands senior secondary education system, teaching practices, and cultural context.
- Proven experience in reviewing curriculum documents and teaching materials.
- Strong written and oral communication skills in English.
- Previous experience with development-funded projects or MEHRD is highly desirable.
