Man bashes his sister over family business dispute
Auki police have arrested a 37-year-old male person for bashing his elder sister over a family business dispute at Bira village in west Kwaio on 9 August 2026.
The incident occurred after a heated verbal argument broke out between the suspect and the victim regarding a family business dispute.
The argument escalated when the suspect physically assaulted his elder sister. The matter was reported to the police, with a formal establishment of a domestic violence case for investigation.
Auki Police officers swiftly attended to the report, where they arrested the suspect on the same day.
He was transported to Auki Police Station and formally charged under section 58(1) of the Family Protection Act 2014 for Domestic Violence.
Following his charging, the defendant was released on a principal bail bond, with the condition that he appear before the Auki Magistrates’ Court on a later date.
Domestic violence is a serious criminal offence which disharmonises the fabric of our society.
I strongly appeal to our community leaders, church leaders, and chiefs to work together with the police to deal with such issues in our communities.
