MHA WELCOMES MINISTER- Reverend Hon. Manasseh Maelanga

The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), joined by its other Agencies including the Honiara City Council and the National Sports Council welcomed its Minister- Reverend Honorable Manasseh Maelanga on Friday 5^th June at the National Aquatic Center, Sports City, East Honiara

Upon welcoming the Minister, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mr. Jeffrey Sade Deve highlighted that the Responsibilities to the Minister of Home Affairs were Assigned by the Governor General. Permanent Secretary Deve stated that the Policy Team at the PIMEU is working and finalizing the GREAT COALITION Government Policy Statements, Programs, Activities and Deliverables / Outcomes. And that the Ministry of Home Affairs is one of the important social sector Ministries of the Government. Permanent Secretary Deve also mentioned that The Reverend Honorable Maelanga is not new to the Home Affairs ministry. He said that The Reverend Honorable Maelanga had served as Minister a number of times in the Ministry. And for that, PS Deve said that the MHA is so lucky and of course a privilege to have him back as Minister. ‘He knows the Mandates, the Roles and Responsibilities of the Ministry’. The Permanent Secretary assured the Minister that the whole Ministry and its Agencies is very eager and happy to work with him and to render him the necessary technical and administrative support as and whenever the Minister requires for the effective and efficient delivery of the outcomes of the GREAT COALITION Government Policy Priorities.  The PS thanked the Minister for accepting the MHA again to serve the GREAT COALITION  government in the coming 2 years and beyond.

In his response, the Minister echoed again his previous service at the Ministry of Home Affairs and is very pleased to be serving here as Minister again, he said. He emphasized that he is ready to work with the Ministry and its Agencies and in his words ‘to execute what needs to be done but also improves on a number of things’ end of quote. The Minister thanked the PS, DS, Directors, Managers and all staff of the MHA. He also extended his thank you to the City Mayor, City Clerk and the HCC Team for their presence to welcome him and assured them of his support. The Minister then thanked the National Sports Council, including the CEO and her team in rendering support to the MHA to welcome him.
