CSSI Farewells Retiring Officers
The Correctional Service Solomon Islands (CSSI) bid farewell to six retiring officers and their families during a heartfelt ceremony held on 2 May 2025 at CSSI Headquarters, Rove, Honiara.
Delivering the keynote address, Commissioner of CSSI, Mr. Mactus Forau, says, “It is both an honour and a privilege for me, as Commissioner of the Correctional Service Solomon Islands, to deliver this address as we gather to pay tribute to six of our devoted officers who are retiring from active duty.
“Today is a day of celebration, reflection, and heartfelt gratitude. We are here not just to say goodbye, but to honour the decades of commitment, service, and sacrifice that these men and woman have given to the Correctional Service and to our beloved nation.”
Commissioner Forau highlighted that each of the retirees had been more than just public servants, they had been pillars of strength, mentors, and role models who upheld the values of integrity, discipline, professionalism, and respect. Their careers were defined by loyalty, resilience, and a strong sense of purpose in serving the nation.
“Their journey has not been an easy one, it required strength of character, emotional endurance, and unwavering commitment to public safety and national security. Whether managing operations in correctional centres, contributing to policy and reform, or mentoring younger officers, these individuals have left a lasting legacy within the CSSI.”
Commissioner Forau acknowledged that the hard work of the retiring officers laid the foundation for the future of the service. Though you leave your uniforms behind, the impact of your work continues to resonate throughout our organisation and in the lives you’ve touched.
“As you move into this new chapter, may retirement bring the rest you’ve earned, the joy of family and community, and the satisfaction of a career well served. The Correctional Service will always be your home, and you will always remain part of the CSSI family”.
The Commissioner also extended his gratitude to the families of the retirees, their spouses, children, and loved ones for their unwavering support. Your service was also their sacrifice, and we acknowledge and honour that today.
Speaking on behalf of the retirees, Senior Sergeant Abel Vane expressed heartfelt thanks and appreciation to the Office of the Commissioner and the Government of Solomon Islands for their trust and support over the years.
“We hope our contributions during our time in service have helped strengthen the safety, security and governance of Solomon Islands, ‘Our service to CSSI will remain forever as a pillar of stone”, says Vane.
On behalf of the Ministry of Police, National Security and Correctional Services, and the entire CSSI family, we extend our deepest appreciation and best wishes to the retirees. May the next chapter of your life be filled with health, happiness, and peace, adds Commissioner Forau.
