
81 additional voters for WGC & Paripao Ward By-Elections
THE Solomon Islands Electoral Commission (SIEC) is anticipating an increase of 81 votes at the West Guadalcanal Constituency and Paripao Provincial Ward by-elections, scheduled for 4th June, 2025.
Chief Electoral Officer, Jasper Harewood Anisi made the revelation at a press conference in Honiara this week.
“According to our data, we will roughly have around 81 new voters added to the voters list for both electorates – 26 for Paripao Ward and 55 for West Guadalcanal Constituency.”
At the 2024 NJE, Paripao Ward registered a voting populace of 2,715. With the additional 26, the its voters list now totals to 2,741. West Guadalcanal Constituency’s voting population also now increase by 55, giving it a total of 8,098 voters expected to cast their ballots come June 4th’s by-elections.
Mr Anisi explained that these additional voters did not take part at the 2024 National Joint Elections (NJE) as they did not meet the age requirements to vote.
“All 81 are registered voters of both electorates, however did not take in the 2024 NJE they were all 17-year-olds and not eligible to vote yet. This year, they are now 18 and eligible to vote. They been added to the voters list for West Guadalcanal Constituency and Paripao Ward”, he said.
SIEC meanwhile calls upon all West Guadalcanal Constituency and Paripao Ward voters to check and confirm their names when the list is put up at their various designated polling stations in the coming weeks.
