On the occasion of the 46th anniversary of the country’s independence, we would like to wish you all a very happy and joyous celebration.
On this occasion, the Ministry would also like to assure the people of Solomon Islands that it will continue to discharge its core functions guided by our Vision for a “Safe, Sustainable and Resilient Environment for Solomon Islands through the application of safeguards on:
- Sustainable use of natural resources: By continuing to promote the conservation, sustainable use and management of our environment and natural resources;
- Provision of meteorological and ocean science services: Ensuring the lives and properties of our people are protected through the effective dissemination of daily weather forecasts and reports to the public.
- Reducing the risks and impacts of climate change and other hazards: Enhancing adaptation and providing mitigation capacity throughout Solomon Islands to contribute to increased resilience and the achievement of developmental goals.
- Leading and managing disaster preparedness and the impacts: Providing leadership in the development and maintenance of measures to support communities in their risks management and disaster consequence management. .
Therefore, the Ministry wishes to thank all citizens and stakeholders for your cooperation and looks forward to working closely with you again in the future. Happy 46th Independence Anniversary!
