Strengthening of provincial capacity and capabilities continues; Thanks to SPC
The Ministry of Health and Medical Services (MHMS) is once again at it, pushing all relevant support received from partners to the provinces, to ensure enhancement of capacity at the provincial level to effectively and efficiently deliver health services to our people.
This was made possible through the wonderful support received today from the Pacific Community (SPC), which included Samsung Galaxy tablets, laptops, multimedia projectors canon cameras, Logitech video conferencing set, UHD Smart TV, to name a few that will be deployed to the province soon.
Mia Rimon Regional Director Melanesia of SPC said that the organization strives to improve the well-being of the Pacific people, so to live free, healthy and productive lives. “As such we are very pleased to have discussed with health on their some of their needs and to have delivered these support today”, she explained.
Ms Rimon acknowledged the hard work of health workers both in COVID-19 frontline and support operation, those rolling out COVID-19 vaccines including all others who work behind the scenes to ensure normal health services are maintained. “
“Indeed it is not an easy task nevertheless we hope that the office and communication gadgets provided will greatly enhance your capacity and capability to deliver for our people in Solomon Islands”, said the SPC Regional Director, Melanesia.
Health Permanent Secretary, Mrs. Pauline McNeil, upon receiving the supplies acknowledged the long history of partnership between SPC and the Ministry of Health.
“Sincerest thank you SPC for your continue support. It is not the first of its kind, as SPC has continued to support the efforts of health in various health programs and projects that have contributed significantly towards our mission to preserve and enhance the health of our people”,
She also highlighted that importance of the equipment received from SPC today.
“The video conferencing equipment, laptops and i-pads will greatly enhance sharing of reports and updates between national and provincial teams including internal communication. Furthermore, there are many stories to tell from health projects both funded by the government and partners across the country which we can now capture using these new cameras with photo and video capabilities, “said Mrs. McNeil.
The Health Permanent Secretary further stated that empowering the provincial health teams and strengthening linkages across health sectors and between national and provincial teams has been a lessons learnt and one that the Ministry is striving to address.
