RSIPF witness reconciliation in North East Guadalcanal
Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) at Henderson Police Station in Guadalcanal Province have witnessed a reconciliation ceremony on 15 August 2021 in relation to a rock throwing incident occurred at Lingi village, North East Guadalcanal.
Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Guadalcanal Province Chief Superintendent Alfred Uiga says, “The reconciliation was done following a group of boys from Lingi village near Bokokibo area in North East Guadalcanal who throw rock at passing vehicles on 3 August 2021.”
PPC Uiga says, “The boys also demanding vehicle drivers and set up a roadblock for vehicles that also leads to confrontation at that time between the boys from Lingi and boys from Weather Coast. After that time the boys rocked a vehicle that was transporting three members of parliament from Guadalcanal on their way back to town after the Second Appointed day celebration at Marau.”
Chief Superintendent Uiga says, “During the reconciliation ceremony, both parties have agreed to reconcile with each other and established an understanding on the way forward to resolve the matter to maintain peace and harmony between themselves.”
Mr. Uiga says, “I want to thank both parties to have this reconciliation to maintain peace between each other. I also want to thank the two Members of Parliament and RSIPF officers for their participation to make the reconciliation done successfully.”
