The team of officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) deployed to the quarantine stations inside the Honiara Emergency Zone under the COVID-19 State of Public Emergency from 27 November were released on 18 December after their replacement by a new deployment team.
Team Commander Inspector Betty Tagini says, “Her team of 25 officers marked the end of their deployment with a Christmas party as a way of showing their appreciation for the three weeks of static security duties at the various quarantine stations within the Honiara Emergency Zone.”
“During the three weeks of deployment, each team worked 12 hour shifts and have been doing static duties 24 hours every day at the five quarantine stations. The team looked after a total of 323 occupants including male, female, child and three infant,” says Inspector Tagini.
The RSIPF continues to provide static security at the quarantine centres in Honiara and other provincial centres as well as providing security at the Western and Malaita Outer Islands border with Papua New Guinea as it assists the leading agency, the Ministry of Health and Medical Services in Solomon Islands’ fight against the global COVID-19 pandemic.
