Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) at Kirakira in Makira-Ulawa Province are investigating a murder incident at Hereina village in west Makira Constituency on 13 November 2021.
Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Superintendent Peter Sitai says, “On 13 November 2021 a 53 year-old man with his 23 year-old son armed with bush knives, allegedly cut a male person which sustained serious wounds to his body. The victim was later rushed to Kirakira Hospital.”
PPC Sitai says, “On the next day (14 November 2021), the same suspect and his two sons were also armed with bush knives and injured another two male persons. The victims were later rushed to Kirakira Hospital from Wango clinic by medical ambulance. On their way to the hospital one of the victims died. The incident relates to domestic violence.”
Superintendent Sitai says, “The surviving victim is in stable condition at Kirakira hospital. Police responded to the report and arrested the father and a son while the other son escaped.”
Mr. Sitai says, “The suspects are currently remanded at the Kirakira Correctional Centre awaiting court trial as investigation continues. As part of the investigation, a post-mortem of the deceased was conducted by a visiting Honiara based pathologist to determine the cause of the death.”
He appeals to both parties involved in this matter to please stay calm as police are still conducting investigations into this matter. Further appeal to the people in that area who might have information about the matter to come forward and assist police with investigation.
