About the National Art Gallery

The Solomon Islands National Art Gallery aims to represent all artforms practised by artists in Solomon Islands. This includes traditional practices of wood carving, pearl-shell inlay, pandanus weaving, printing on tapa cloth, and making shell money jewellery as well as the more contemporary practices of painting and textile printing.

The National Collection is gradually being catalogued and made available online, see https://ehive.com/collections/207368/national-art-gallery-collection.

The Honiara Craft Market Centre is managed by the Art Gallery and provides opportunities for artisans to rent spaces to produce and sell their arts and crafts.
