CSSI Sworn in two Newly Registered Nurse
Correctional Service of Solomon Islands (CSSI) has recently sworn in two newly registered nurse; a male and a female held at the Correctional Headquarters, Rove.
CSSI Commissioner Mactus Forau says, “I am pleased to inform you that in accordance with section 123 (2) of the Solomon Islands Constitution and Section 10 of the Correctional Services Act 2007. You are appointed as an officer in the Correctional Service Solomon Islands for a six (06) months probationary period with effect from your date of appointment.
“Your appointment is subject to the provisions of the Correctional Services Act and Regulation 2007 and the General Orders.”
He adds working in a challenging environment like a prison, you’ll deliver compassionate care to patients from diverse cultural backgrounds who are vulnerable and have complex health needs. Your role often varies, allowing you to pick up additional skills and develop your knowledge.
“You’ll need resilience, patience and communication skills to be a prison nurse. Problem solving, compassion and being able to prioritise are also vital. Conflict management skills and a good knowledge of the criminal justice system and how it relates to the role will also help.
“The Correctional Service Solomon Islands is a key component in the Government’s administration of criminal justice. CSSI is challenging organization which offers many learning and development opportunities and I welcome you to the service”, says Forau.
Commissioner Forau on behalf of his Executive, Commandants, Directors, Ranks and Files of CSSI congratulated the two officers of their appointment and working togetherness as we all progress the future of CSSI.
