CSSI celebrate 44th Independence Anniversary
The Correctional Service of Solomon Islands (CSSI) celebrated the country 44th Independence Anniversary at the RSIPF Club on Thursday 7 July 2022
A day commemoration comprised of staff and their family members from the Ministry of Police National Security and Correctional Services (MPNS&CS), Correctional Services of Solomon Islands (CSSI) and the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF).
The national theme for this year’s 44th Independence Celebrations was “Umi Tugeda for a Stronger and Peaceful Solomon Islands”. The theme really resonates on why we are here as a Ministry.
Minister of MPNS&CS Hon. Anthony Veke in his keynote address during the celebration echoed that, we as a team, are working together to build our peaceful and beloved Solomon Islands. Our working together is our beginning, staying together is our working progress and our efforts to work together is our collective success.
Hon. Veke highlighted the fact that we are custodian of law, order and peace in our country. These mandatory tasks are very demanding, and we have an important role to play in the country’s growth and development.
Meanwhile Commissioner Gabriel Manelusi conveyed his congratulatory message to the Correctional officers. This entails men and women officers working tirelessly throughout the Correctional centres. This has been reflected in the last 44 years of success and maintenance of safety, security and good governance of Correctional services in the country.
Manelusi reinforced that Correctional Service of Solomon Islands strives within its mandated legislative and administrative corporate businesses as a key component in the criminal justice process in the country.
Along with Hon. Minister Anthony Veke, Commissioner Manelusi thanked all CSSI family members for giving their time and supporting their family members while working in CSSI and RSIPF. It’s certainly not an easy task, working in odd hours and facing dangerous situations. However, your commitment, support and trust help strengthen your task effectively and efficiently.
The celebration ended with a lot of fun and entertainment. Along with the official ceremony, sporting activities, cultural dances, lemon & spoon race for children, water balloon toss and race, volleyball competitions, tug-of-war and sack race for both men and women were also organized.
It has been an enjoyable celebration for all Solomon Islanders.
