CPI rises 0.2 percent in October 2021
The National Consumer Price Index (CPI) rose 0.2 percent to 107.5 in October 2021.Releasing the latest bulletin on Monday 6th December 2021, Government Statistician Douglas Kimi said through the year, compared to the same month in 2020, the National CPI rose 2.2 percent.
He said the most significant changes by major expenditure groups from the previous month include:
- Food and Non-Alcoholic Beverages: (+1.2%)
- Alcoholic beverages, tobacco and narcotics: (-2.3%)
- Housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels: (+0.7%)
- Furnishings, household equipment and routine household maintenance: (-0.2%)
- Health: (+2.3%)
- Transport: (+0.3%)
- Miscellaneous goods & services: (-0.1%)
Mr Kimi said Solomon Islands inflation rate for the month of October 2021 calculated on a 3-months moving average basis was +1.8%. “The corresponding inflation rates for imported items was 0.7%, while other (domestic) items inflation rate was +2.2%. “The Solomon Islands underlying rates of inflation based on a 3-months moving average was observed between -0.8% and +0.3% for October 2021.”
