
Police investigate fatal accident at KG VI market
The National Traffic Department (NTD) of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) is investigating a fatal accident at King George VI market which happened in the early hours of 3 October 2026.
The initial police finding confirms that there are three people inside the white Toyota Rav 4 travelling at high speed in an easterly direction.
When the car reached the eastern end of the KG market, it hit the edge of the road, causing the vehicle to become jump as a result; one female passenger fell out of the vehicle.
Director of the NTD, Superintendent William Foufaka, said as the vehicle landed on the ground, it hit a pedestrian and broke his left leg.
Director Foufaka said the victims of the accident were transported to National Referral Hospital (NRH) for medical assistance, but sadly the driver of the car was pronounced dead.
Mr Foufaka said the other two passengers are still under medical observation while the traffic police are investigating the sad fatal accident.
He said other information related to the fatal accident will be updated and kept to us in due course.
