Solomon Islands Immigration Holds Border Management System Validation and Consultation Workshop
The Solomon Islands Immigration Division successfully conducted its Border Management System (BMS) Validation and Consultation Workshop from 23rd to 24th September 2026 at the Heritage Park Hotel, Honiara.
The two-day workshop brought together key stakeholders, including representatives from Government Ministries, business houses, private-sector organizations and other relevant institutions, to provide constructive views and recommendations on the Immigration Division’s new online visa application system and Border Management System.
The workshop provided an important platform for stakeholders to share their experiences, concerns, expectations and recommendations regarding the new systems. Discussions focused on how the online visa application process can be made more accessible, efficient and user-friendly, while ensuring that the Border Management System supports effective border control, information management and improved service delivery.
Participants were also given an opportunity to provide practical feedback on the proposed processes and identify areas that may require further improvement before the systems are fully implemented.
The Immigration Division welcomed the valuable feedback and recommendations received throughout the consultation. The contributions from stakeholders will assist the Division in identifying gaps, addressing operational challenges and making necessary improvements to the Border Management System and visa processing procedures.
The consultation reflects the Immigration Division’s commitment to working collaboratively with its stakeholders to ensure that the implementation of the new systems meets the needs of travellers, visa applicants, businesses, government agencies and other users.
The Immigration Division acknowledges and appreciates the participation and constructive contributions of all stakeholders who attended the workshop. Their feedback will play an important role in strengthening Solomon Islands’ border management processes and supporting a more secure, efficient, transparent and customer-focused immigration service.
