RSIPF deployed contingent in South Sudan engage and contribute towards the implementation of UN mandates

Eight officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) deployed in South Sudan actively contribute towards the promotion of peace, security, human rights, and community engagement in collaboration with United Nations Police (UNPOL) components, host state authorities, and other international partners.

Eight officers of the RSIPF who deployed to South Sudan this year, 2026, remained committed to carrying out their duties professionally while adapting to the complex operational environment and challenges experienced within the mission area.

The team demonstrated strong discipline, teamwork, and dedication in executing assigned responsibilities under the United Nations (UN) framework.

Acting Commissioner of RSIPF Mr James Aitorea said through continuous cooperation and coordination with mission partners, the contingent maintained effective operational performance while upholding the standards, principles, and core values of the UN, including integrity, respect, accountability, and impartiality.

“Despite operational and environmental challenges encountered, the contingent continued to perform its duties with resilience and commitment. Officers maintained high professional standards and represented the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force with pride, distinction, and professionalism at all times,” said Acting Commissioner Aitorea.

Commissioner Aitorea said the RSIPF deployed team remains committed to strengthening its contribution to United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) operations through effective policing support, community engagement, protection of vulnerable people, and support for peace-building initiatives.

He said the team will continue to serve with professionalism, discipline, and dedication while positively representing the government and people of the Solomon Islands in the international peacekeeping environment.

The new acting police chief said the contingent remains committed to maintaining professionalism, discipline, and effective cooperation while serving alongside international police officers and other mission components.

The RSIPF contingent currently deployed under UNMISS continues to contribute towards the implementation of the UN mandate in support of peacekeeping, protection of civilians, promotion of human rights, and strengthening of law and order within the mission area.

Officers deployed under the mission continue to perform their duties and responsibilities in accordance with United Nations standards, policies, and operational procedures while promoting the core values of integrity, accountability, respect, and impartiality.
