RSIPF Participates in 48th Independence Anniversary
Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) joined several thousand members of the public to mark the 48th anniversary of Solomon Islands’ independence at the National Stadium in Honiara on 7 July 2026.
The theme for this year’s celebration was “OUR NATION, OUR RESPONSIBILITY AND OUR ACCOUNTABILITY.”
The Australian Prime Minister, Anthony Albanese, attended as the special guest of honour and delivered a speech during his first official visit to the Solomon Islands. In his address, Prime Minister Albanese reinforced the close partnership between Australia and the Solomon Islands, focusing on security cooperation, economic development, and regional stability.
The parade commander for the anniversary celebration was the Assistant Commissioner of Police for National Operations, Mr. Lionel Kapisa. The official procession was led by the Police Band alongside the Australian Defence Force (ADF) band, followed by a male and a female platoon of RSIPF officers. They were joined by personnel from the Correctional Services of Solomon Islands (CSSI), Honiara City Council Law Enforcement, and various youth groups, including the Scouts, Girl Guides, Brownies, and the Seventh-day Adventist Pathfinders.
The RSIPF extends its sincere gratitude to the citizens of the Solomon Islands for their exemplary behaviour during the festivities. This peaceful atmosphere ensured a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone who attended the historic celebration.
