Independence Message from the Ministry of Environment, Climate Change, Disaster Management and Meteorology (MECDM)

To: His Excellency the Governor General Sir David Tiva Kapu and Lady Kapu, Hon Prime Minister Mathew Cooper Wale, the Deputy Prime Minister, the Leader of the Opposition, Ministers of the Crown, Members of Parliament, the Hon Speaker of Parliament, the Hon Chief Justice, Members of the Diplomatic Corp, the Lord Mayor of HCC, HCC Councillors, all Provincial Premiers, Members of Provincial Assemblies, Development Partners, Church Leaders, Chiefs, Public Servants, the Private Sector, and the People of Solomon Islands.
TEXT: On this momentous occasion of our National Independence, the Ministry of Environment, Climate Change, Disaster Management and Meteorology (MECDM) extends its warmest congratulations to the Government and People of Solomon Islands.
This day is a proud reminder of our sovereignty, our unity, and the enduring spirit of our people. Independence is not only a celebration of our history, but also a call to safeguard our future. As custodians of our islands, oceans, and forests, we carry the sacred responsibility to protect our environment, strengthen our resilience against disasters, and confront the challenges of climate change with courage and determination.
MECDM reaffirms its commitment to work hand in hand with our leaders, communities, and partners to ensure that the Solomon Islands remains a safe, sustainable, and thriving nation for generations to come. Together, let us continue to build a future of peace, prosperity, and resilience, guided by the values of stewardship, unity, and hope.
