RSIPF White River Police Station Officers Complete Specialized Anti-Narcotics Training

Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) from the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) at White River Police Station have completed an intensive, practical anti-narcotics training program aimed at boosting operational capacity for frontline officers.

The specialized training was delivered by the China Police Liaison Team (CPLT).

Acting West Zone Commander Inspector Steven Niuhavi, together with more than 20 CID detectives, participated in and successfully completed the training.

The training package was tailor-made to address the entire spectrum of drug-related law enforcement, ensuring that the curriculum met the immediate needs of frontline investigators.

Key areas covered during the training included a Global Narcotics Overview, which provided participants with an assessment of current global drug crime trends based on United Nations reports, including major illicit substance categories and their societal harms.

Intelligence & Operations advanced techniques for gathering and analysing drug-related intelligence, as well as planning and executing tactical interdiction operations aimed at disrupting illicit drug activities.

Legal & Case Management also covered best practices for conducting suspect interviews and interrogations, along with the proper preparation and management of case files to support effective investigations and successful prosecutions.

To ensure the skills could be immediately applied in the field, the CPLT utilized an interactive teaching model.

Officers engaged in real-world case studies, formulated their own tactical plans, and participated in live scenarios. Each exercise was followed by interactive reviews and debriefs by the CPLT instructors to address gaps in real-time.

Speaking at the conclusion of the program, Acting Commander Steven Niuhavi highly commended the Chinese Police Advisory Team for their ongoing support and precise delivery of policing expertise.
