Ministry of Public Service Welcomes Newly Appointed Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Public Service

The Ministry of Public Service today officially welcomed the newly appointed Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Public Service, Honourable Francis Sade, during a special welcome programme held at the King Solomon Hotel.

The event brought together officers and staff of the Ministry to formally welcome Honourable Sade as he assumes leadership at an important period of ongoing public service reforms and institutional development.

In his welcome remarks, the Permanent Secretary expressed confidence in the leadership of the Honourable Minister, acknowledging his longstanding contribution to the Ministry and commitment to strengthening the public service.

The Permanent Secretary emphasized the Ministry’s readiness to work closely with the Minister in advancing a capable, ethical, accountable, and high-performing public service that delivers quality services to citizens across Solomon Islands.

“As a Ministry, we look forward to your leadership, guidance, and valuable contribution. Your commitment to the Public Service is well recognised by staff, and we assure you of our full support and cooperation as you undertake this important responsibility as Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Public Service,” the Permanent Secretary stated.

Addressing staff during the occasion, Honourable Francis Sade expressed appreciation for the warm reception and reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening public service reforms and improving institutional performance across government.

The Deputy Prime Minister said his decision to return to the Ministry of Public Service reflected his strong belief in the critical role public servants play in advancing government priorities and national development.

“The Public Service is the core of government machinery. This is where we move government forward and manage our human resources, which remain the most important component of any institution,” Honourable Sade said.

He highlighted the importance of building a future-focused public service founded on professionalism, accountability, and long-term national development for future generations of Solomon Islanders.

Honourable Sade also acknowledged the dedication and contributions of Ministry staff and technical teams, recognising the progress achieved collectively and expressing appreciation for their continued support.

The Deputy Prime Minister further assured staff of his commitment to progressing key reform priorities and strengthening collaboration to accelerate improvements across the public service sector.

“I remain committed to progressing the reforms that are needed. Together, we have an opportunity to strengthen government performance and continue moving our country forward for the benefit of our people and future generations,” he added.

The Ministry of Public Service reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the Honourable Deputy Prime Minister and Minister in advancing reforms aimed at strengthening governance, workforce capability, institutional performance, and effective service delivery throughout Solomon Islands.

The welcome program concluded with a renewed commitment by Ministry staff to support the Minister’s vision and leadership in fostering an efficient, professional, accountable, and responsive public service, and in implementing the policies of the new coalition Government.
