Police acknowledge public and appeal for calm ahead of MoNC
The Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) acknowledges the public for the good behaviour during the Court of Appeal (CoA) decision, which was made in favour of the new coalition government, and calls on all members of the public to remain calm, respectful, and law abiding as the country prepares for the democratic process scheduled to take place this week, during which a Motion of No Confidence is expected to be convened.
RSIPF Commissioner Ian Vaevaso wishes to make it clear that RSIPF does not take sides in political matters but remain independent and committed to serving the people of this nation while upholding law at all times.
He adds, “Police will maintain high visibility presence to ensure the safety of all citizen and will respond to any incidents that may arise. Any unlawful activities will be dealt with accordingly.”
“Members of the public are urged to continue to respect the law and allow the democratic process to occur without any disruption.”
“Anyone with information regarding individuals or groups who may intend to disrupt the MoNC is encouraged to report it by calling the Police emergency toll free line 999,” says Commissioner Vaevaso.
The RSIPF strongly urges all social media users to refrain from sharing unverified information or rumours, avoid posting content that may incite fear, panic, or public disorder, and to engage respectfully and responsibly in online discussions.
We remind the public that spreading misinformation can have serious consequences, including causing unnecessary alarm and disrupting public peace.
The RSIPF continues to monitor the situation closely and assures the public that security measures are in place to maintain law and order. We encourage everyone to remain calm and allow due process to take its course.
