National Emergency Operation Center Dispatches First Team to Western Province to Coordinate Relief Efforts
HONIARA, Solomon Islands – The National Emergency Operation Center (NEOC) has officially begun its field operations for the current emergency response, dispatching its first batch of officials from Honiara to the Western Province today.
The primary objective of this initial deployment is to establish a robust logistics and coordination framework to support affected communities. The team is tasked with preparing a strategic staging area and securing secure storage facilities for essential relief supplies, including both food and Non-Food Items (NFI’s).
In addition to logistics, the NEOC officials will focus on strengthening local response capabilities. A key objective of their mission is to set up a dedicated coordination center designed to provide direct support to the Provincial Emergency Operation Center (PEOC) in Gizo. This collaboration ensures that relief efforts are streamlined and that resources are managed efficiently at the provincial level.
This deployment marks a critical step in the national response, ensuring that the infrastructure is in place to receive and distribute life-saving supplies to those in need.
