Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) at the Tigoa Police Station in Rennell and Bellona Province have arrested a 19-year-old male for allegedly entering three houses on different dates and stole valuable properties from the houses.
The suspect was brought before the court during a court circuit in Rennell and Bellona Province on 25 November 2020.
Supervising Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Eddie Peseika says, “On the first two occasions the suspect was not reported to police.”
“The suspect was caught during the third incident (housebreaking) and victims finally reported the matter to police where he was arrested and placed in police custody for the alleged offence been committed.”
PPC Peseika adds “The suspect was charged with the offence of burglary contrary to section 299 (a) of the penal code and brought before the court on 25th November. He was remanded to appear in the Honiara Magistrates’ Court on 4 December 2020.”
“I want to appeal to communities in Rennell and Bellona Province that unless the police were witnesses to a crime, an incident needs to be reported to the police for them to be aware of it. The suspect should have been reported earlier to police to avoid reoffending in our communities. Police do not tolerate such unlawful behaviour in our communities. Let us celebrate the 2020 Christmas and welcome the new year 2021 in our communities with peaceful festivities and remain crime free,” says PPC Peseika.
